Mike Kiser Finds Victory Lane at Utica Rome

Sodus, NY – The 2005 CNYMS Champion, Mike Kiser was solid with his winning ways at Utica Rome Speedway winning both his heat and the “A”-Main for the first win of the 2006 season.

With 26 A-Verdi Storage Containers / CNYMS 1200cc Mini Sprints signed into the pits for the make up of the rain shortened program of the week previous it looked to be exciting for the fans on a sun soaked afternoon. The track was groomed to perfection and looked to be fast. Rich Wood, Don Harvey & Mike Kiser picked up the heat race wins all doing it in blistering fashion.

Bringing the “A”-Main to green, the front row looked to be a shootout as Kiser was on the inside and Bubba Broderick was outside. Wood and Harvey pulled the 5th and 6th rows in the redraw and would have their work cut out for them in the “A”. Intermixed throughout the top 12 positions found the quick running 21 of Jared Fink, young Justin Phillips, and Leito. Broderick jumped to the lead at the green but a quick caution for the 7 car out for the first time on the tour for Cody Flach with mechanical problems. Racing resumed only to have the field stopped by a flipping P13 of Jerry who hooked a rut entering turn 3. One more attempt and one more caution for a spin in turn two on lap 3. Finally the guys put the wings in action and started to fly around the ultra fast inner 1/3.

The 6w of Wood was up to 3rd already and Harvey was 4th by lap 5. The pace was a torrid one and lapped traffic quickly became and issue. The “Young Gun from the East was making his way around lapped cars early but had to check up spun to the high side of turn two bringing a caution. When racing resumed, on lap 12 the top 5 were Kiser, Wood, Harvey, Lampron & Fink. Broderick would restart 21st. The racing was wild with every lane being used around the whole track. The racing was close but no one had anything left for Mike Kiser as he came across the line only 2 car lengths ahead of Wood and Harvey.

Picking up the Broderick Motorsports $50.00 Hard Charger award it was a tie between once again Henry Tanner and the 44 of Harvey getting 9 spots each. Rich Wood picks up the $25.00 Dry Wash N Guard Waterless Car wash awards, John Lieto picks up the Ultimate Wings $25.00 certificate and Spectro Oils award went to Jared Fink.
