Norrie Knows Neighborhood, Needs Nothing to Win at Whip City

WESTFIELD , MA – The Empire Lightning Sprints tour made their first visit to Whip City Speedway and Doug Norrie used his extensive knowledge of the idiosyncrasies of the track to defeat a 25 car field in the 1200cc Mini Sprint feature. Norrie, whose resume includes wins at the Whip in Karts, Mini Sprints and Sprint Cars, started fourth and led all 20 laps in his Henchcraft sponsored by K&S Powersports, New Boston Crane Service and Sleds, and Spectro Oils.
“The car was pretty much perfect, I didn’t even have to move the wing back during the race,” Norrie said. “After the heat we made a couple of minor changes to the car- a turn here, a turn there and a little tire pressure adjustment- but to be honest, we probably didn’t have to do a thing, it was that strong.”
Four caution flags in the first half of the race kept the traffic bunched, but the second half ran caution free. Mike Kiser was the hard charger of the night, starting 16th and finishing fifth, behind Norrie, Joe Szczapa, Jerry Sehn, Jr. and Jamie Kiser.
